Movie: "Bara no Konrei" (Bridal of Rose) by Malice Mizer

I will always be a Malice Mizer fan for life. Although they are no longer together, they are still one of the best Japanese gothic rock bands of all time. Their popularity was at its peak in the late 1990s. I don't know what attracted me to this Malice Mizer back in high school, but their songs are simply awesome (Yes, they are all men.). This song, "Mayonaka Ni Kawashita Yakusoku," was released in 2001 and had the leader singer, Khala (vocals), who replaced Gackt. The three other members were Mana (guitar, synthesizer), Kozi (guitar, synthesizer), and Yuki (bass). The music video for this song is at the end of this post.

Their music video is from the "silent" movie, "Bara no Konrei" (Bridal of Rose), about vampires in Victorian-era London. Click here for more detailed character and plot information about the film. Although his character is similar to Jonathan Parker from Bram Stoker's Dracula, Khala also reminds me of Johnny Depp from the movie, Sleepy Hollow.

You can also watch the Japanese film online! Click on the different parts below.

The entire film is about 1 hour and 20 minutes in length.

I will have more reviews on Malice Mizer in the future. Enjoy the music video!
